City smells
are urine sting
and acid bite
as old garbage leaks
yellow, dung floats,
cars, buses belch.
Sour city.

You go home,
pull off skin,
drop in sink.
Scrub in soap,
soak ‘til fresh.
Later, your skin hangs,
drips dry.
